Casa Azul – A Retreat in Lake Arrowhead
Hello Friends, Friend’s Families and Friend’s Friends!
This is not a vrbo or airbnb place. This is the Harrington’s family weekend retreat and we have put it together with a lot of love, taste (ours at least!) and charming details.
We don’t rent it out but we are going to take a family sabbatical for two months this summer and thus are making the cabin available at low cost to friends, friend’s families and friend’s friends. If you’re reading this, you’re in one of these categories.
We are glad to share our retreat with you knowing you will take good care of it and at the same time you will help us cover our basic costs while we are out, a win win situation!
The House:
- A-Frame chalet with panoramic views and awesome private, quiet location, overlooking the San Bernardino National Forest.
- The house is part of Arrowhead Lake Association thus we have lake rights and you can access the beach clubs and trail gates around the lake. We will leave two cards at the cabin that enable up to 8 people getting into the beach club.
- We have a heater but no air conditioning. Evenings are cool year round so we opted for an environmentally friendly solution in the form of skylights. In the summer, to cool the house, just open the skylights, in matter of minutes the house cools down.
Exterior:
- Fabulous view that goes past 50 miles out, on a good day can see all the way to Mojave Desert.
- Gas bbq – we will leave it with a full tank.
- Big patio table that can accommodate up to 10 people.
- Acapulco chairs to sit back and enjoy the views.
- Driveway can fit two cars but given the slope we almost always just park at the street in front of the house. Up to two cars allowed.
- Be mindful we have steps, so not handicap accessible, sorry!
- We are right by one of the gates to the National Forest; to be precise, a 2 minute walk. Thus you have access to mountain biking and hiking right from the cabin.
- The lake is a 5 minute drive if you go to Tavern Bay Beach Club, which is on our side of the lake.
Bedrooms:
- 1 King Size Bed
- 1 Queen Size Bed
- 1 Bunkbed with Trundle
- Plenty of linens, towels, blankets and pillows at the house
Bathrooms:
- 1 Full Bath main level.
- 1 Half Bath upstairs.
- Tankless water heater, so don’t worry about running out of hot water, it only happens if electricity goes down, which can happen at the mountain but rare during the summer time.
Kitchen:
- Small but cute and very functional.
- Has pretty much everything one would need on a weekend get away for full meal prep.
- No dishwasher, enjoy the pleasure of putting on gloves and meditating while you do the dishes staring at greenery over your shoulder.
Dining Room:
- Seats 5 comfortably. Outside patio table is better for larger groups.

Living Room:
- Wonderful gathering place
- We have TV but no cable, use wifi and app services on apple tv or, even better, don’t waste time with it.
- Fireplace works but we don’t use it during the summer as the weather does not ask for it.
Mezzanine:
- Wonderful spot to meditate, read a book or take a nap in the hammock.
Our Favorites: (Recommend reservation upfront, summer is a prime season on the mountain)
- Summer concert series – usually tribute bands, playing Fridays and Saturday evenings in the Village. We like to buy reserved seating on the benches and it’s great way to enjoy the show on the cheap without standing up the whole night.
- Lake Front Taproom at the Village – https://www.lftaproom.com/
- Lou Eddie’s Pizza – https://www.loueddiespizza.com/
- Fine dining at Stone Creek Bistro – http://stonecreekbistro.com/
- Diane’s Saddleback Inn – Cozy old style mountain restaurant – https://saddlebackinn.com/dianes-saddleback-grill/
Check In / Check Out Procedures:
- Arrive anytime, leave anytime as long as it’s within your days – we will not book any overlaps and plan cleaning for the day after you leave.
- We will send details upon booking with address and check in/check out procedures.
- You will need to haul your trash away at the end of your stay. Due to bears we can’t leave any trash in the street or anywhere outside overnight.
The Deal:
- We prefer no more than 6 people parties.
- No pets sorry, as much as we like them the house has a lot of carpet and light colored rugs and furniture, it’s not easy to clean those after pets.
- We are asking a minimum of 2 nights stay, that’s to make the cleaning fee worth while.
- Cleaning fee per family stay: $120 per stay
- Daily rate:
- Friday, Saturday evenings: $100 per day (on Weekends this place would rent for aprox. $250/day thru regular rental venues).
- Sunday thru Thursday evenings: $80 per day
Please email us at isabela.harrington@gmail.com if you have any interest, let us know the dates and party size. The place is available roughly between June 19 to August 2nd.
Thanks!
Isabela, Jack and Julia
